Thomas R. “TJ” Bauer, Jr., age 41, of Halifax, MA passed away on October 8, 2022 from a tragic motor vehicle accident. Born in Holyoke, MA on April 16, 1981 to Kathy Bauer (Holyoke) and Thomas Bauer, Sr. (Holyoke), he graduated from Holyoke High School in 1999 where he excelled in tennis, football and most of all, hockey.
In the years following high school, TJ began his professional career as a local mason. In 2007, TJ joined the Holyoke Fire Department of which he took great pride in. During 2017, he relocated to Halifax, MA where he recently became a journeyman with sheet metal workers Local 17 Union in Boston, MA. He was currently working with Apex Corp in North Abington, MA.
TJ aka, “Butters,” was a constant comedian and would light up every room he entered. With his big heart, infectious smile, raw humor and “mayor” like qualities, he made memories with everyone that no one will ever forget. TJ’s own greatest memories though are with his two kids, Mia (13) and Cillian (3). Nothing brought him more joy then spending his free time coaching and watching Mia’s soccer and softball games with Cillian “The Beast” by his side. TJ’s passion and love for sports was also evident with his dedication to Boston sports teams and obsession with Tom Brady.
Besides his parents, TJ is survived by his daughter, Mia Bauer (mother Angela Bessey), and his son, Cillian Bauer (mother Melissa McDougall). He also leaves behind two brothers, Eric “Beb” (Jamie “James Dawg” and Wyatt), and Patrick “Chicken” (Zydalis “Dals” and Alaeya). He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will truly miss his incredible energy and laughter.
Calling hours for TJ will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Friends and family are then invited to a Celebration of TJ’s Life from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Wyckoff Country Club, 233 Easthampton Road Holyoke.
