Verda Francis Hoar-Hess Obituary
Verda Francis Hoar-Hess, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025 with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents, John J. Hoar Jr., and Verda F. LaFlamme-Hoar, and her brother Mike Hoar, all of Holyoke. Verda was a long-time resident of Holyoke. She grew up on the family's farm, Green Vale Farm raising Irish Setters and Morgan horses. She graduated from Holyoke High School Class of 1970and received her Associate’s Degree in Animal Science from Holyoke Community College. Verda was a member of New England Morgan Association and 4-H of Hampden County. She loved to play Texas Hold EM and Bingo. Verda loved volunteering at Rainbow Rescues where she rescued her beloved Herman. Verda leaves behind 2 daughters; Tabitha L. Davis of Chicopee, and Lisa A Davis of Plymouth as well as a son, Richard K. Hess Jr., of Holyoke. She also leaves her 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Verda was 1 of 9 children. She leaves behind Jack Hoar of Eastampton, Maria O’Brien of Westhampton, Pamela Bergeron of Holyoke, Jo-Ann Dennis of Chicopee, Jeffrey Hoar of Bismarck, MO, Jennifer Wilda of Easthampton and Jacqueline Rabtor along with many nieces and nephews. Verda worked as an accountant for Weinstein Furniture, U.S Tsubaki and Cocord Electrical. She also worked at K-Mart as an associate for many years. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 5:00pm to 6:45pm with a funeral home service at 6:45pm. Burial will be private.
