Virginia R. (Boronski) Zabowski

Virginia R. Zabowski (Boronski), 88, passed away February 16, 2026. Born May 10, 1937, she was the daughter of John J. and Rose K. (Krol) Boronski. Born and raised in Holyoke, she was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She worked for Holyoke National Bank, The Transcript Telegram, and Child’s Shoe Store. Virginia will be warmly remembered for the love she had for her family, who have fond memories of her pierogi at Christmas, her delicious golumpki, her homemade apple pie, and the zeal she had for shopping and finding a bargain. She loved Polka music and met her husband at a local dance, and the two enjoyed going to Polka dances and festivals together. After her husband’s retirement, they also enjoyed weekly trips to the casino. Above all, family was the center of her life. Along with caring for her mother for many years, and helping with after school care of her grandchildren, she looked forward to and took pride in attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events. She was predeceased in 2009 by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edwin J. Zabowski. She will be deeply missed by her children, Debra Z. Moskal and her husband Mitchell of Holyoke, and Mark Zabowski and his wife Sheri of Auburn. She also leaves her grandchildren Jennifer Trowbridge (Ryan), Christyn Christopher (Ben), Amy Desautels (Adam), Michael Zabowski, and Nikita White (Nick), along with her great-grandchildren Andrew, Emily, Anthony, Megan, Gianna, Elliott, Chase, and Capri. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Mary Lorraine Boronski. Visitation will be held on Friday February 20th from 8:30 to 10:15 am at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in South Hadley, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Thank you to the staff and nurses at Day Brook Village in Holyoke for their loving care over the last year, and for creating a sense of community for Virginia and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield, or to Mater Dolorosa Catholic School in Holyoke.
