Vivian B. (Gosselin) LaPerle

Vivian B. LaPerle, 95, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family at Keystone Commons in Ludlow on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Vivian was born in Chicopee, MA on September 19, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late Ephrem and Jennie Gosselin. She raised her family and resided in Chicopee most of her life.

Vivian had a love of Elvis, music, and bingo, and was an avid player of Rummikub. She created lasting memories with her family camping and traveling up and down the East coast. Vivian may have been petite, but she had a zest for life, was full of antics, and brought smiles to everyone she ever encountered.

Vivian was greeted at heaven’s gate, after 35 years, by the love of her life, her husband Richard A. LaPerle. She was also embraced by her daughter, Denise A. LaPerle, and her grandson, Jacob M. Swiatlowski. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa M. (LaPerle) Pandolfi and husband Thomas of Granby, MA; the joys of her life, her grandchildren: Sara Swiatlowski and her partner William Burton of Wakefield, MA, Aaron Astley of Falls Church, VA, and Andrew Astley and his partner Jessica Andreone of New York, NY and two step-grandchildren, Nicholas Pandolfi and his wife Taryn (Brody, Luke, and Gwendolyn) of Agawam, and Angela Hansberry and her husband Daniel (Ryan and Charlotte) of East Longmeadow. She also leaves behind a sister, Eileen Jones of Agawam, and a sister-in-law, Yvette Lavallee and her husband Roland of Chicopee, and MANY nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank Vivian’s caregivers at Keystone Commons for their care, and for sharing of their personal stories of Vivian’s capers. The family would also like to thank Baystate Hospice, Tania and Mary of Silver Linings Homecare, and Taryn Pandolfi and Rose Mick for all of their support and care they gave to Vivian over time.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service for Vivian on Tuesday, May 10th at 5:30 pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 4:00 pm. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vivian’s memory in honor of her beloved cat Angel (who was her best friend and companion for the last 10 years and whom she always told everyone that Angel never did anything wrong) to Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center, 627 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
