HOLYOKE
Walter “Buddy” Redding, 84, passed away on April 16, 2022, with his family by his side at home. He was born August 29th, 1937, to Ethel & Michael Redding of Holyoke MA. Buddy is survived by his wife of 64 years Dorothy T. “Dutchy” (Krajewski) Redding, his son Walter Redding Jr, daughter Debbie Collins, there late daughter Roxanne Redding, granddaughter Danielle Redding and great granddaughter Aurora Redding, sister Ethel Kennedy and late brother Michael Redding; a sister-in-law Thelma Redding and sister-in-law Phyllis Krajewski.
Buddy started his working career with the Holyoke Water Dept for 25 years and then took an opportunity to spend the final years with the Gas & Electric Co until retiring at an early age of 57. Buddy and Dutchy began traveling and enjoying the life they had always hoped for, the cooler months in Florida and returning to Holyoke for summer. Several times a year they traveled to Las Vegas and spent time with their son and his family who lived in Las Vegas.
Buddy was a lifetime member of the Holyoke Elks Club. He was a member of the Ward 1 Flats group.
Buddy and Dutchy were blessed with a great family and many lifelong friends. This group of friends have never waivered from what was important to the family, they vacationed together, travel the country together and never separated from that bond for more then 60 years.
The funeral will be held Tuesday April 26 at 12:15pm from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours are Tuesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
