William M. Antil, age 94, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late George and Marion (Gagnon) Antil and graduated from Holyoke High School, Class of 1947 and Providence College, Class of 1951. Bill was a life and health underwriter for more than 38 years at Mass Mutual, retiring in 1990. He was a proud, multi-gallon blood and apheresis donor, a member of the Providence College Alumni Assn and Holyoke Lodge of Elks # 902. Bill was also a longtime volunteer at the Western Mass Food Bank, Holyoke Medical Center, Red Cross in Springfield, and the Take and Eat Program at Blessed Sacrament Parish. Bill was the widower of Yolande T. “Yo” (Gagnon) Antil, who predeceased him on March 19, 2014. He is survived by six children: Stephen G. Antil and his wife Susan of Lee, Thomas A. Antil and his wife Suzanne Messier of Quebec City, Canada, Peter D. Antil and his wife Danielle Cooke-Antil of St. Albens VT, Nora L. Antil and her spouse Tara Kominiak of Belchertown, Fe’ Trudell and her husband John of Holyoke, and Vincent J. Antil and his wife Dillon Scott of Stow MA, his grandchildren: Anthony Antil, Peter Antil and his wife Nicole, Clare Tullock and her husband Michael, Andrew Antil and his wife Maria, Lauren Urbani and her husband Michael, Rachel Loischild and her husband Christopher Bowers, Renee Buono and her husband Shawn, Michael Trudell and his wife Melynda and predeceased by granddaughter Leah Antil. Bill was also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: William, Aidan, Declan, Caleb, Avi and Violet, step-grandchildren: Lysanne, Carolyn and Bruno Messier-Bellemare, Alexander and Guillaume Godbout, and 5 great step-grandchildren: Donovan, Maeva, Edouard, Elie’ and Beatrice. The funeral will be held Saturday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at Saint Rose de Lima Cemetery in the Aldenville section of Chicopee.
