William Edward Geraghty

William Edward Geraghty, 89, of South Hadley, passed away in Holyoke, the city of his birth, on August 23, 2023. Born on January 20, 1934, William was a graduate of St. Jerome High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. William retired from the US Postal Service of Holyoke after 35 years of service. A proud Irish-American, William celebrated his heritage through his love of Irish music, membership at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club, and frequent travel to Ireland. He was beloved on both sides of the Atlantic and will be missed by family and friends in Massachusetts, New Brunswick, Canada, and County Mayo, Ireland. He will be especially missed by his son Francis Geraghty (Cathy), grandchildren Julie-Anne Stebbins (Grant) and Christopher Geraghty (Justine), great-grandsons Grayson and Milo Stebbins and Benjamin Geraghty, brother-in-law Euclide Moreau (Adrienne), as well as many nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Amilda Geraghty, parents, John and Josephine Geraghty, and siblings, John Joseph, James, Margaret, Ruth, Francis, John, Richard, and Edward. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Holyoke Visiting Nurse Association. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke is assisting the family.
