William A. Hefty

William A. Hefty, age 64 of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holyoke, MA on December 10, 1961 to William P and Edith M (Robertson) Hefty, Bill was a graduate of Holyoke High School, William J. Dean Technical Nursing Program, Springfield Technical Community College and Westfield State University. He was very proud to have been a nurse for over 35 years. His happiest and most rewarding years were spent taking care of pediatric patients at Northampton Nursing Home. At the time of his illness, Bill had been a nurse at Regal Care in Holyoke for 10 years. Bill was very proud of his Scottish and German heritage, and was known for his handmade Scottish shortbread and fudge. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who always enjoyed watching the games with his family. Above all else, Bill loved his family.

He is survived by two sisters: Laura Guy of South Hadley with whom he made his home, and Marilyn (David) Boudreau of Chicopee. He is also survived by nieces Kathryn Boudreau (Brian Michalski) of Secaucus, NJ, Melissa Mertes, Megan Gouin, Azira Guy of Westfield, and nephew Harrison Westbrook of South Hadley. He is also survived by nephew Riley Guy of Flagler Beach, Fl.
