William H. Prost, Sr.

WESTFIELD

William H. Prost, Sr., of Westfield, passed away peacefully at home after a year long courageous battle with bladder cancer on Monday February 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. William was born in Holyoke, son of the late Constant and Gabrielle Prost and educated in Holyoke schools. Bill worked at his family's Bakery, Prost Bakery as a young boy and continued as a Baker for 10 years before working as a Union Carpenter.  From there he bought rental property in Holyoke which he maintained and managed until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and joking around, but most of all loved time spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra “Sandy” (Messier) Prost; children: Kim Schleicher and her husband Bob of South Hadley, William H. Prost, Jr. and his partner Todd of Austin, TX, and step-son Dennis Staples of Easthampton; he was  beloved “Uncle Bill” to many, including his many nieces and nephews, and friend to all. Visitation will be held in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, on Friday February 12 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held privately with burial later in the spring in Center Cemetery, Westhampton.
