Yvette Jacqueline (Cayer) Matlock, 82, of West Springfield, passed away peacefully Sunday August 13, 2017 at Heritage Hall East Nursing Home. Yvette was born in Lachine, Quebec, Canada daughter of the late Joseph and Donalda (LaRue) Cayer. She attended Precious Blood and St. Jerome schools in Holyoke. Yvette was a United States Air Force wife for 24 years, and had many fond memories of her family’s travels throughout Europe and the United States. Yvette was among the first 13 employees hired at K & M Electronics and after many years of service, retired as supervisor of shipping and receiving.  She was the widow of Thomas E. Matlock, who died in 1996. She is survived by her children: William R. Matlock and his wife AnnMarie of Holyoke, Linda M. Hallinan and her husband Brian of West Springfield, James D. Matlock of East Lyme, CT, and John M. Matlock and his wife Karen of West Springfield; 7 grandchildren: Brian T. Matlock, Jennifer Duncan (Staurt), Christopher Hallinan, Thomas Matlock, Zachary Matlock, Jackson Matlock, and Tommy Matlock; a daughter-in-law Kimberly Matlock; a brother, Real Cayer and his wife Nancy; three sisters: Denise Cayer, Rita Petersen, and Claire Hercenberg; and many nieces and nephews. Yvette was predeceased by two brothers, Roland Cayer and Norman Cayer. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by burial in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the service Friday from 9:00 to 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Yvette to a charity of one’s choice. Yvette’s family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall East in Agawam for their expert and loving attention to all of the residents in their care.
